Ahmedabad International School (AIS) is a private school located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.[1][2]
It is one of the SAT and ACT centers in the state of Gujarat, other being Navrachana International School in Vadodara. The school also administers Advanced Placement Program (AP) exams.
The head of the school is Dr. Anjali Sharma. There has been only one previous head.
In 2017, the District Primary Education Officer (DPEO) imposed a fine of 110,000 rupees and required a change in the curriculum from the upcoming school year, upon finding that the school was not using textbooks approved by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board.[3] The school soon transitioned to using NCERT textbooks.
Academics and curriculum
[edit]Ahmedabad International School has been authorized to offer the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE), International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) and Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).[1][2] Children from Grade 1 through 5 are offered the IBO's Primary Years Program (PYP).[1] Students in Grades 6 and 7 are offered CIE's International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE).[2] Students from Grades 8 to 10 are given a choice between the IGCSE program or GSEB. Pupils in Grades 11 and 12 are offered three choices: the CIE's A Levels, IBO's IBDP, or GHSEB.[3]
Uniform
[edit]The regular school uniform for grades 1 to 4 is a dark green t-shirt branded with the school logo, and black trousers worn Mondays to Thursdays. On Fridays, students wear the T-shirt of the house they are assigned - Ignis (Red), Ventus (Yellow), Terra (Green), or Aqua (Blue).
The regular school uniform for grades 5 to 10 is a blue T-shirt with black trousers. This is only worn on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. On Wednesdays, they wear regular blue T-shirts, however, they wear khaki-brown pants. The Wednesday uniform requires students to wear blazers on top of the blue T-shirts. On Fridays, the students wear their House uniforms.
Lastly, the regular uniform for Grades 11 and 12 is a light blue t-shirt with black trousers. The pattern is the same as Grades 5 to 9 with the Khaki pants and Blazer on Wednesday, and House Uniform on Friday. Plain, black shoes and socks are required every day. There are no regulations on the type of stationery, backpacks, etc.
Enrichment Program
[edit]AIS offered its enrichment program for the first time in the 2023-2024 school year. The same is enforced to new parents as Mandatory, even if it is legally optional as per FRC Gujarat Guidelines.
